  International Expert Group Meeting on Indigenous Peoples and Forests

At its ninth session, the Permanent Forum decided to hold an Expert Group Meeting on indigenous peoples and forests, coinciding with the International Year of Forests. The findings of this Expert Group Meeting were presented to the Tenth Session of the Permanent Forum in May 2011.

UN Declaration

UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
On September 13, 2007, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was adopted by the General Assembly. This decision comes as a result of more than twenty years of work by indigenous peoples and the United Nations system.
