Database of national policies and measures to combat hunger
and poverty in times of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond
This database presents policies and measures that Member States have implemented to combat hunger and poverty during the COVID-19 pandemic and the recovery phase. This database seeks to serve as a knowledge hub for national governments to share their experience, effective policies and measures, and innovative approaches, so that they can build on them to recover better and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goals 1 and 2, by 2030, while leaving no one behind.
The information contained in the database has been collated mainly from Voluntary National Reviews presented at the 2020 and 2021 High-Level Political Forum, the 60th session of the Commission for Social Development, and the note prepared by the Secretariat as a background document for the “Emerging Issues” of the 60th session, titled "National policies and measures implemented by Member States to combat hunger and poverty in times of the coronavirus disease pandemic and beyond: challenges to get on track towards the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda", as well as other sources, notably the FAO publication, the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2021 (SOFI), and other relevant documents.
This database is still in its initial stage of development. UNDESA intends to expand it in capacity, depending on additional funding. As of 06 April 2022, there are 233 measures included.
